Gov. Rick Scott was at Orlando-based ODC Construction on Friday morning to announce that Florida’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.8 percent in April, and Orlando’s rate dropped to 4.1 percent.
The state jobless rate was down 0.1 percentage point from March, and down 0.7 percentage point from 5.5 percent a year ago.
According to the new numbers, the Orlando area added 49,600 new private-sector jobs over the past 12 months, the highest number of new jobs among all Florida metro areas.
April’s unemployment rate for Orlando was down by 0.8 percentage point compared to April 2015.
